S&P Technology may deal with clients that cover a large area (as it IS the WORLD wide web after all...) but here in our offices in Hereford (West Midlands), we try to offer a personal touch and community feel to the work that we do. Professionalism with a friendly and informal attitude is something to expect from us.

Some of the services we offer include website design and development, support and hosting for small and medium sized businesses, as well as for the individual. We can set up a website that will last for a lifetime or perhaps something that aims to be interactive and will require regular updates. Whatever sort of website design or development that you are looking for, our offices in Hereford are an ideal place to start your online campaign, be it social networking, marketing and sales or something that supports the work that you already do in the community. S&P Technology works in partnership with CLM Promotions (another Hereford based company) to optimise your search engine results using rich site content, good metatag management and a variety of other methods. This is due to the fact that a website can act in two different capacities. Firstly it acts as an online reference to clients (which saves on the paper trail) and secondly (perhaps more importantly) It can also act as a means of attracting business via online referrals.

Some of the Technical Stuff...

We believe that most website visitors prefer a clean uncluttered appearance, fast page loading and clear navigation. Our website design services follow this belief, so you won't find Flash animations, huge images, Java applets or lots of client-side scripting in our websites. We build websites based on common open-source technologies such as Apache, PHP and MySQL, and avoid proprietary technologies such as ASP, Frontpage and Flash (keep it simple, easy to use, follow and understand)

We ensure that our website design and development projects are fully compliant with web standards to ensure cross-browser compatibility. All websites are tested on a variety of browsers (such as Internet Explorer and Firefox) and platforms (including Mac OS-X and Linux) to avoid unpleasant surprises for your visitors and loss of potential business for you.

We can offer eCommerce solutions based on the JShop Server eCommerce software. This is when you wish to sell a large number and variety of products that will change on a regular basis. Amazon is a prime example of the type of website that you would be looking to emulate. Previous work that S&P Technology have already done in this field can be seen in the portfolio.

If we will be hosting the completed website and taking care of the maintenance and updates this can be done on our Developer license. Alternatively if you wish to take full control of the completed site we can offer a package including your own JShop license.

We can work in static XHTML and CSS, possibly with a small amount of PHP for menus etc. This is the preferred option when changes are infrequent and would be handled by us (this S&P Technology website is built that way).

Alternatively we can offer Content Management System (CMS) based websites where we complete the website design and you take care of the content changes and additions through a web-based interface. Our preferred CMS is Website Baker which is free open-source software and has a user-friendly interface.

Sometimes the only solution is custom written code for your specific needs. We can help with this too, if PHP and MySQL are appropriate technologies. Generally the custom code would be for specific aspects of the website, with the rest built using one of the options mentioned above.
